About Michael

Michael Campbell is a communications professional living in Central Virginia, currently serving as Coordinator of Public Relations and Communications for Prince George County Public Schools. His journalism background, which includes print and television work, helps shape his strategies in delivering information to the stakeholders he serves, including families, employees, and the greater community.

Michael is passionate about finding innovative ways to communicate information to the community and draw engagement across various platforms. He continuously learns new technology, digital media, and other tools while using concepts derived from the newsroom to innovate public relations communications, while using professional development and engaging with other communications professionals for insight to hone his skills.

His innovation brought forth the first digital platforms to three weekly newspapers in Southside Virginia in 2014, helping launch robust websites and social media accounts for The Dinwiddie Monitor, The Prince George Journal, and The Sussex-Surry Dispatch and introducing readers to the world of hyper-local digital news. While overseeing the newspapers' digital presence, Michael also led news content production as their News Editor, writing nearly a dozens local and regional stories a week across the publications and maintaining a "Digital First" mindset by breaking news on our websites between publications.

He now serves as Coordinator of Communications and Public Relations for Prince George County Public Schools, telling the story of the school divisions and bolstering the district's internal and external communications.

Michael enjoys sports in his personal time, regularly attending NASCAR, hockey, and soccer events in the region. He also is an avid gamer and invests time into competitive simulation racing through iRacing, which serves as an outlet that provides a rigorous challenge focused on patience, teamwork, and innovation.
